Work Progress

・Task 2 adopts the bicycle lane idea.

In Task 2, we select one idea from the ideas proposed in Task 1 and further investigate it in more detail, including the problem, possible solutions, and the current situation.

We divided into two groups, the car group and the public transportation group, to take photos at the locations. (Subang Jaya aria)

By observing the current situation in person, we were able to identify new problems and possible solutions, and also examine this theme from various perspectives.

Current Situation and Impressions

Result:

Some stations have bicycle parking areas and bicycle lanes. However, they are rarely used, and cars or motorcycles are often parked there instead. In addition, there are very few places with proper bicycle lanes, making it difficult to travel by bicycle in many areas. There are also places where walking is possible, but the ground often has uneven surfaces and cracks, which may lead to injuries or accidents.

Feedback:

We received an explanation about Task 3 from our supervising lecturer.

For Task 3, we were told to focus on one specific location or station (SS15, SS18, or Subang Jaya). In addition, before proceeding with Task 3, we need to add five insights and five key requirements related to our group’s theme.

To further support and clearly emphasize the data about the bicycle lane, we are also required to conduct short interviews with people around the area who use the site.

Reflection:
This time, we visited the sites to take photos and observe the current situation. I was in the public transportation group, and we used BRT and LRT to visit various stations around Subang Jaya. At stations near supermarkets or places with many users, we could see some bicycle lane facilities. However, we also noticed many issues, such as vehicles occupying the lanes and the lack of users, which shows that the facilities are not fully utilized.
