<Techniques Applied>

<WorldView>
The worldview depicts on unrealistic realm, detached from everyday life. The character's traits and emotions are shaped by an unstable environment filled with unease, fear, and eeriness. As a contrast, the moon and a single light represent a sense of reassurance and the idea of a last remaining hope. In the sketches, I often placed the character in the center or used compositions that naturally draw the viewer's attention toward the middle.

<Rationale>
・L-shape
・Goldem spiral
・Rule of thirds

The three compositions used are the golden ration, the rule of thirds, and the L-shape.

In the illustration, I represented a large shadow using the golden ration, aligned the moon according to the rule of thirds, and positioned the ground and character in an L-shaped layout. To create a sense of depth, I layered shadows with different colors and transparency levels. By applying effects and blurring, I enhanced the mysterious atmosphere, evoking feelings of unease and eeriness. I darkened the surroundings to emphasize contrast, and by carefully choosing the colors of the moon and the character's clothing, I guided the viewer's attention naturally toward the elements I wanted to highlight.

<Self Reflection>

I struggled more than I expected with creating compositions, combining layouts, and placing shadows in a way that matched the story and characters. When producing the artwork, I used filters, but fine adjustments were difficult, and this sometimes resulted in unwanted blurring or overexposed lighting. I would like to review and relearn this process in more detail.

However, through this assignment, I was able to learn about illustration composition, shadows, and movement, as well as the roles they play and how they affect the overall visual impression.

3. REFLECTION

In this assignment, I mainly learned composition techniques. Until now, I had not given much thought to composition when creating illustrations, but by studying it again, I was able to understand its importance more clearly. I also learned that composition plays a very important role not only in illustrations, but also in photographs and video scenes. I would like to continue applying these techniques in my future work.
