Project Task 2: 2A Double Exposure

<Practices & Final Output>

This artwork is a composite image of a woman, the ocean, and outer space. I arranged plants around the composition to create visual balance. Since the theme includes the sea and the universe, I used soft blue tones to reflect that atmosphere.

Mouse and Candy:
When I first saw the assignment to photograph familiar objects and combine them in a composition, the very first thing that came to mind was candy. I eat it often, so it felt like the most familiar object to me. Also, since I frequently use a computer both at school and at home, I decided to combine candy with a computer mouse.

<FINAL DESIGN>

For the poster design, I adjusted the candy colors using filters and editing effects, then arranged them around the layout. By bringing the background closer to pastel tones, I was able to create a delicious and appealing atmosphere. In addition, enlarging and slightly blurring the mouse in the foreground adds a sense of depth. Furthermore, applying a curved style to the text helps express a visual flow that matches the surrounding candies.

<Techniques>

I created photo composites and edits by combining two or more photographs. While producing the work, I used opacity adjustments, color correction, overlays, and selection tools. For the double exposure piece, I used techniques such as clipping masks to place another image within the main subject. I applied filters to the surrounding leaves and lowered their opacity to create a subtle glowing effect. In the conceptual photo manipulation work, I focused on adjusting brightness and color to make the image appear as realistic as possible.

<Self-reflection>

Applying too many filters sometimes caused overexposure and reduced visual quality, so I repeatedly made fine adjustments. In addition to editing techniques, the original image colors also play an important role, and choosing slightly darker images may allow for cleaner cutouts and better results.

3. REFLECTION

In this assignment, the main focus was on advanced selection techniques and image editing. In particular, the Conceptual Photo Manipulation task required editing and manipulating photographs that I had taken myself. This time, I made an effort to utilize natural light so that the images could be cleanly cut out using selection tools.

For the poster design, I aimed to create a pop and appetizing visual by combining candy and a mouse. By curving the text to match the shape of the mouse and arranging the same candy in different colors, sizes, and angles, I was able to create a vibrant and cute impression.
